Painting Surfaces Other Than Canvas
Gabrielle Ranger likes to explore painting a variety of surfaces, often to add a decorative flair. She has painted murals, furniture, and decorative objects. Ranger likes the freedom that murals give her by giving a large surface area full of lots of potential. She likes to paint furniture and found objects to breathe new life into them.
Conversate Mural 2024
“Mr. Conversate, 2024”, located at Conversate Seafood and Steak house in Hamilton. The painting is located inside their restaurant on the walls of their staircase, visible from the entrance.
The paint used is acrylic for bold colours and durability. It is approximately 10ft high and 22 ft in length.
A little fact about this work; there are 1110 suction cups on all the tentacles, with 9 layers of paint on each. They were all hand painted with the final colours using gold leaf quality paint.
Chairing is Caring Program by Waterdown Village 2024
“Metamorphosis, 2024” latex outdoor paint on wooden muskoka chairs.
This piece of art was in collaboration with the Waterdown Village and their Chairing is Caring Program. Primary colours were provided by Sherwood Williams, creating a fun challenge as I mixed all the colours by hand. This piece was auctioned in 2024 and the proceeds went to the YMCA Youth Foundation and the Flamborough Foodbank. I was very grateful to participate in a project that gave back to my community.

This piece is currently being modernized and will hopefully have an update in the near future to match their new logos and colour thematics.
